Barcelona Weekend Break

Barcelona villas and property

If you are intending to stay in Barcelona for a week or more and you would like to rent a villa, or if you are considering buying property in Barcelona, the information on this page may give you some brief pointers.

Barcelona has a massive number of available rental properties in the form of villas, casas, fincas and apartments, along with some "out of town" rural houses called casas rurales.

A holiday villa in Barcelona

Staying in a vacation home can prove very economic if there are four or more of you sharing. A holiday villa also offers a greater level of independence and normally includes a private (or sometimes shared) pool.

Most holiday villas are rented based on a fixed charge, so costs per head decrease the more of you that there are. Maid service and pool cleaning are included and villas usually offer a “welcome pack”, containing food and drink for your evening or early morning arrival.

Most villas are outside the main city area of Barcelona, so renting a car is usually advisable although not essential.

Property in Barcelona

There is an excellent portfolio of potential holiday homes and apartments in and around Barcelona. Prices are not as cheap as some of Spain’s other resorts, but rental revenue is high with vacationers coming from not just the UK, but France, Germany and the rest of Spain.

Most consider Barcelona to be a good long term investment area with its year round tourist appeal and mix of families, couples and singles.

To find out a little bit more about Barcelona and Spain as vacation home bases, or relocation destinations, see this General Barcelona property info page.

In Spain an Estate agents is called an "inmobiliaria" and house are also sometimes called challets, casas, villas and fincas.
