Barcelona Weekend Break

Hen and Stag Parties and Weekends

With a climate that is reliable all year round, Barcelona offers one way to make a hen or stag weekend that little bit special.

Barcelona will help you to prepare for your big day by spending a weekend break in a destination that offers a mix of good weather, sunny beaches, exciting nightlife and lots of inexpensive places to drink and eat out.

Barcelona can be as cheap or as expensive as you want to make it and there are direct budget airline flights from most UK and Ireland airports.

Why choose Barcelona

Barcelona gets a lot of ticks when it comes to being a stag or hen weekend break destination and one of the big pluses is the number of airlines and air traffic routes that service this coastal city. Getting to Barcelona has never been cheaper, quicker or easier and there are no signs that this will change.

Once in Barcelona there is plenty to see and do and the options that are open to you during the day are more than doubled after dark.

Barcelona has become a major stag and hen destination, so the bars, pubs and eateries are geared up for groups planning to have a good time and make the most of the nightlife.

Barcelona is a city that never sleeps and it offers inexpensive dining followed by an incredible selection of night time activities that range from bars and comedy clubs through to flamenco shows and nightclubs. The city also has different zones, each with their own unique feel and style of bar and nightlife. You can stay in one zone, or move from one to another.

Barcelona is also a safe city and, although still troubled by pick-pockets in the busy areas like las Ramblas, there is no underlying atmosphere or worries about threatening behaviour.

What to do in Barcelona

If your party weekend falls during Barcelona's extended summer period, then there are plenty of beaches to choose from. These range from the city beaches like Barceloneta to el Garraf and Sitges, both of which lie a short distance from the city. (They are easy to get to.)

Barcelona is also a Mecca for shopping in all of its forms with major areas like las Ramblas, the Mercat Boquera (market) and the Mare Magnum complex close to the sea front. All offer good and diverse shopping experiences and you will find everything from market stalls to designer label boutiques.

When it comes to sightseeing you can choose from spectacular Gaudi inspired parks and modernist architecture to museums, the city's massive aquarium, or one of the local water parks. There are also some great excursions, both around and out of Barcelona, that can help keep you entertained and amused.

Other daytime pursuits on a Barcelona Hen weekend can include spending the day in a Spa and relaxing whilst enjoying a treatment like a massage, exfoliation therapy, sauna or manicure. This kind of girl’s day is perfect if the weather gets too hot, or if you happen to get one of Barcelona’s rare bad weather days.

When it comes to evening entertainment, Barcelona has a number of different clubs covering every kind of dance music, plus jazz and blues, and there are some big shows featuring traditional flamenco dance and dress. These shows normally include diner.

Most of Barcelona's bars and pubs stay open until 2am or 3am and the dance clubs are usually active right through to 5am or 6am in the morning.

Barcelona has an excellent public transport system that includes buses and an underground metro system making getting around and getting back to your hotel a simple task. There are also shuttle buses that travel to and from the airport and there is even a cable car that soars above the bay.
