Barcelona Weekend Break
Barcelona tourist help points (Tourist offices in Barcelona)
Not surprisingly, as a city that earns much of its revenue from tourism, Barcelona has several strategically located tourism offices. These help points are found in different location throughout the city. For further details read on below.
Barcelona has five primary tourist help points, each equipped with information and attendants who can help you to get the most out of this large and cosmopolitan city. Many of the people working in these offices speak multiple languages and finding assistance from an English speaker is rarely a challenge. If you are visiting Barcelona on a weekend break or a short vacation, the help that these tourist offices can provide can save you time and give you valuable local insights. Even if you think that you have arranged and organised you vacation break it is still worth calling in at one of these offices to see if there is a local event taking place that you may be interested in.
In addition to the five main tourist centres there are also some smaller help points, again located in areas frequented by tourists. Services offered vary from office to office.
Tourist help point locations
- Probably the biggest and busiest of the tourist offices is the one found at the Placa de Catalunya (a large square in the centre of the city). The office is located at the bottom of some steps under the square and if you have trouble finding it ask a local, they will know what you are looking for. Services include the provision of tourist maps, selling of tour bus tickets and general help.
- Barcelona City Hall is the location of another tourist help point. It is on the ground floor and is indicated by the white letter i on a red circular background (the tourist information symbol). It offer similar services to the office listed above.
- Both of the offices above offer accommodation finding and reservation services which are not provided at the other tourist help points.
- The remaining tourist offices are to be found at the Columbus Monument, Las Ramblas and inside Barcelona Airport (there are in fact two offices at this airport, one at each terminal).
Each of the offices above is smaller than the previous two and in general they offer less assistance, however they also have some specialities of their own.
The airport tourism points provide help with transport from the airport to the city and the Las Ramblas office is primarily concerned with the city’s culture and can provide information about museums, shows and events.
Most visitors to Barcelona find the offices helpful and the people who staff them friendly and informative. You may have to wait or queue at busy times and during the main summer season.
